Why do we gather on the Full Moon?

When Mother Moon, moves from the shadow of Mother Earth and is fully illuminated in her brilliance; We gather in darkness to connect to her light. It’s a reminder of who we are as women. We are the keepers of an ancient tradition, passed down to us by our ancestral grandmothers. We are the bridge to the Divine Feminine. We are the chain-links that connects history to the present. We are the chain-links that connects to the women of the future. We are the wisdom keepers. We are the Warriors. We are the protectors of the weak. We are the Peace Makers. We are the healers. We are the keepers and creators of ritual. We are the keepers of universal rhythm.

Why do we gather?  Maat01Maat02

To soften our steps.

To fuel our fierceness.

To Strengthen our voice.

To heighten all senses.

To celebrate the seasons.

To connect with Mother Earth.

To Share wisdom.

To live abundance.

To be bold.

To create.

To lighten our heart.

To beat the drum.

To dance our light.

This is why we gather…

Strive to be happy.

2017 Pure Potentiality

On the first full moon of 2017, our nomadic tribe gathered at J7 Studios, in Moss Beach

Karianne Burns

Karianne Burns

In this hip sound recording studio, young Karianne Burns, play the angelic harp as the ladies arrived.  The intention for this gathering was to envision our abundant new year and look back at our strong circles from last year.

In 2016, we all had our personal ups and downs, but in our Moon Mothers circles, we were strong and vibrant.  Every full moon we gathered to embody the power of a different Goddess archetype and connected to our true soul essence.

The slide-show below, titled,  2016 Moon Mothers Circles, was set to music and projected 100 times larger than it shows on this blog.  Through this show we deepened our connection as a tribe and recalled our joyful gatherings.

Cozy on the floor we began our New Year Manifestation meditation.

pure-potiential02

The musical notes from Karianne’s harp seemed to resonate with the frequency of each chakra as we cleared any blocks in our energy centers.  With our chakras balanced and clear we began our meditative journey into one of the most magnificent years of our lives.  In our minds eye we moved through the seasons with a strong body and felt the vital energy of physical movement. Mused for a moment on a new study commitment and felt the satisfaction of learning and teaching. Our bodies were still one the floor but our minds went on a journey to a new place on earth and we felt the freedom of unencumbered travel.  Reaffirming that our work in this word is important and money flows to us easily: we turned our attention to our home sanctuary that was uncluttered and beautiful. With sincere appreciation for the kindhearted people in our life we sent them love and gratitude.

Our Manifestation Meditation was not about the things we would obtain this year.  It was about our way of being in the world, self-care, learning, teaching, speaking our truth and gratitude for the people in our life.

last full moon of 2016

On this last full moon of 2016, our nomadic tribe gathered at Mary’s secret club house to honor the women who chose to be born in December. Our ceremony was dedicated to Saraswati; Hindu Goddess of art and intellect.

Wet misty air, moistened our skin and hair, as we burned Palo Santo sticks to clear our auras and invoke our inner Saraswati.  We encircled Kellie, Elaine and Ginni (the birthday babies) with a loving chant and pithy spoken blessings.  They reciprocated with gifts from mother earth and acappella song.

As the wet air turned into sprinkling rain, we retreated to the cozy club house.  Our focus was to embody the spirit of Saraswati, deepen our concentration and create.  In quiet meditation, we called upon our muse, opened to our creative genius and stepped into the flow of creation. Then, without words, our creative expressions began. Some picked up pen and paper to write poetry and song, but most, silently gathered around the art table to paint on tiny wooden canvases.  The only sound was soft background music, every woman was in her own creative world.

sarasiwatti01When we regrouped for circle speak it was amazing to see a common thread in the individual creations. Images of trees and glittering skies, words of growth and reflection, circles, spirals and moons, seemed to show up again and again. Was it coincidence, divine inspiration or Saraswati at work?  Maybe all three, or maybe its just that, we are a circle of like minded women.

To close our ceremony, we stood, arms around each other in a close circle, and sang In a circle of women, by Jan Phillps.

Please honor this natural dream time of the year, with spacious rest and slowness.  May you find great inspiration in your dreams.

Sincerely,

Tamara Trejo

Harvest Moon

On this last full moon of summer, we harvested wisdom.  Just before sunset we gathered at the beach to honor the Roman Goddess, Vesta, and her undying flame.

Our rituals, songs, and words were incantations to invoke the spirit of Vesta that lives in our home (the place our soul resides).  In preparation for this time of extending dark nights, we readied ourselves to be the flame of wisdom and shine light into the darkness for our loved ones.

Donna Scheflier, led us in the opening of the sand dollar ritual. It was symbolic of our inner knowingness and of giving flight to our dreams.  At the water’s edge we broke open the beautiful sand dollars to discover the tiny doves within, that were waiting to be released.

As I gave instructions for the blind~guide walk, I wondered, is this an exercise, ritual, or practice? It was and lesson in trust and tender guidance. The ladies partnered with an unfamiliar circle sister, one became a guide and the other a blind (eyes closed) seeker.  They softly touched, and with very little words, the seer guided the seeker down the beach and around to a sea treasure prize.  The seeker kept her eyes closed and trusted that her guide would not let her stumble or fall.

Like the Vestal Virgins who kept Vesta’s flame burning for centuries, we Moon Mothers kept our camp fire burning throughout circle speak time.  In lieu of our traditional talking stick, we kept order by way of wisdom wands (12″branches of apple wood).  One by one, each woman shared her words of wisdom, then placed her wisdom wand into the fire.harvest-moon-03

img_3208Still seated around the fire, Leah led us in the song,  I am Light,  by India Arie.  Still singing, we slowly rose to our feet and transitioned to chant and move to, Earth my Body, Water my Blood, Air my Breath, Fire my Spirit.harvest-moonHappy Autumn, may the spirit of Vesta inhabit you home.

Thank you Erica Crawford for the wonderful camera work.

Sincerely,

Tamara Trejo

Wisdom of Atremis

On this high summer, full moon night, the women were called to the Enchanted forest by the silent whisper of the Goddess. With a clear view of the sun melting into mother ocean, we cast our circle atop the wooded bluff top. Anointed with essential oil and fairy dust, we opened our intuitive sixth chakra to become clear conduits of Goddess wisdom.artemis01Artemis03Our individual clear minds became one universal master mind of true wisdom and right action.artemis02In deep appreciation for each other and the world, we began our pilgrimage through the forest to forge deeper into ourselves and become more clear of our intentions.  Without words, mindful of each step, we walked deliberately.  Consuming the beauty of the forest, songs of the birds, scent of the soil and cypress, we dissolved the veils of separateness.artemis04 With a heightened sense of light and sound we returned to our circle to enjoy the ancient story of Artemis.

The peaceful warrior Goddess, Artemis is known to be a midwife, way~shower, incredible athlete, unerring archer and tribe leader of wood nymphs.  Born with an astonishing aim and the power to always hit her target, she eventually became vain and competitive.  One day her twin brother, Apollo, tricked her into shooting and killing her only true love, Orion.  With a broken heart, she turned Orion into a star constellation and vowed to only use her talent as an archer to protect and serve.  She chose to leave her family and live in the forest.  Her father, Zeus, created a tribe of feminine wood nymphs to keep her company.  Artemis has become the archetype of transformation through tragedy.  The warrior Goddess, Artemis, protects women, is deeply connected to Mother Earth, and shines her light so others can find their way…

Artemis05We aligned our wisdom tunnel with the full moon.  One by one, each woman closed her eyes and slowly walked thru the two lines of women who whispered of her magnificence.  When she opened her eyes at the end of the tunnel, Mother moon was shining low on the horizon, symbolizing Artemis’ guiding light.artemis06
