First Full Moon of 2015 on 1-5-15

On this first full moon of the new year, we gathered to honor the infinite Goddess that resides within each of us and our pure potentiality.

After opening ceremonies, we celebrated the woman who chose to be born in this darkest time of the year, Kellie Morlock. We offered her our love and blessings and received her beautiful song in return.mm1_5_15_02

We moved inside for a slide show and watched each Full Moon Ceremony of 2014. As the images floated by, we celebrated our year together, and then released it, creating space for the excellent (perfect) days to come.

Tammy led us in meditation as we created our most perfect day. We journaled and shared: some waking up in tropical locales, some in our own beds, some skipping around the globe. Inspiring and supporting each other as each most excellent day unfolded.

After our closing circle, we called down the moon as she crept up through the trees, sharing her Goddess light.

Goddess Portraits

December full moon ceremony Dedicated to Isis

Shannon Fern

On this December night, a clearing opened between the rains to present a glowing full moon as we gathered in honor of Isis–ancient Egyptian Goddess of reincarnation and resurrection.

We circled as the moon crept up from the trees, called in the seven directions and our beloved (I am always struck by the feeling of kinship we share in honoring our loved ones) and celebrated December birthdays. Laughter, poetry and words of wisdom were shared before we retreated to the parlor.

As we sat in circle and candlelight, Tammy shared the story of Isis and Osiris–and we learned a magical aspect of the story as we realized what of Osiris’ body parts Isis had to fashion for herself!  As a Goddess of wisdom and magic, Isis holds the keys that show us the records of where we have been and where we are going.

Then Dr. Lisa Chu and friend Joviana led us on a path downward, inward and out in a quest for visions and past life material. We began with relaxation and cleansing exercises, including releasing what needed to be expressed through the throat chakra. Howls, yelps and intonations filled the room! After these were exercised, we each found a place to sit or lay down, ready for a journey.

Dr. Lisa Chu and Joviana layered trance-inducing musical selections with their own musical performances, ranging from singing and chanting to drumming and other instrumentals, quietly changing locations for a curious sensation of comfort and dissonance–enough for us to breathe and experience the moment, and in many cases experience visions or inspiration. The music cycled, rhythmic, carrying to us through sound and vibration.

After this time concluded, we slowly and quietly rose to journal our experiences. Once we had recorded these and reflected quietly upon them, we gathered again in circle to share what our impressions were. This provided a rich experience in seeing how differently each woman’s journey was and the meaning she made of it. Expressions of energy, flying, swimming, sailing, smelling chocolate, the land and its seasons, and lessons learned were shared. Honest reflections of feeling resistance or just enjoying the moment or feeling the body’s exhaustion were also shared. Some of us shared communion with our beloved dead. The myriad of experiences deriving from the same room were embodied in one Peaceful Warrior’s image of all of our ethereal energy rising together from our bodies to the ceiling–individual strands, unified.

Isis is a Goddess of the Mysteries–she speaks symbolically and some of us wondered what dreams may come of this experience!

After much laughter and reflection, we gratefully closed the circle and stepped out to honor and call down the moon–this, the last of 2014. A light, nourished in darkness, begins to grow.

We gathered under a clear sky dotted with fluffy clouds for the last full moon circle of 2013 to honor goddess Isis.

In the center of the circle, Tamara had drawn the Celtic triskelion in yellow and pink chalk on the asphalt behind Coastside Photography.

Dec201303After the conch call and smudging each other with sage, we called in the ancestors and absent others.

The circle chanted “Sha la ma,  Sha la ma beta” for the four women who chose to come into the world during the darkest time of the year, as Tamara put it,   and each woman in the circle blessed the birthday quartet with wishes for the coming year. And then it was the turn of the birthday girls to give back to the circle. Judith read  poems dedicated to Vesta (last month’s goddess of the hearth),  Peaceful Warrior gave each woman a magical bag with lavender and bay laurel leaf. Lisa Chu sang and Krysta made a wish for the circle.

We moved inside where we called on Isis three times. Tamara told the story of Isis, the Egyptian goddess whose mother was Nut, the sky goddess, and her father, Geb, the earth god. Isis married her brother Osiris, a kind soul who was killed by their jealous brother Seth. Isis cried so hard that she flooded the river Nile. Eventually, she found and brought together all the dismembered pieces of her husband together and breathed life into him.

The story of this goddess of reincarnation led us right into a past life regression meditation led by Dr. Lisa Chu, who used sound to bring us to a deeper level of consciousness. After the meditation, each woman spoke of her experience in turn.

We thanked those unseen who were with us, chanted om three times, gave a hug to the sister to our left and then to the sister to our right.  After closing the circle., we all went out to the balcony to call the full moon. Hail Isis.

Vesta Poems

By Judith Rosenberg

We have no hearths, only separate screens

and gourmet kitchens that no one cooks in.

Our fireplaces are but for show.

Our central heating has no center.

The sacred mystery of fire, unseen,

How soon forgotten

As we sit in house warmed by atoms split

and watch electrons dance.

She was the oldest sister of the Olympian Twelve,

Promised the best offerings, the first whiffs of charred flesh.

She was feared, that Fire Maiden,

Whose anger swept down the mountainside as molten lava.

She was too terrible to portray,

Save contained in the small hearth fire

Carried from mother to daughter,

From homeland to colony,

From one Olympic host city to the next.

Hail Vesta, Goddess of the Eternal Flame.
