Artemis

Conceived through ancient Goddess mythology, we gave birth to modern rituals.  The unstoppable spirit of the Divine Feminine brings magical energy and wisdom to our Goddess circle.  We are the true legacy of our ancestral Grandmothers, who fearlessly engaged in full moon ritual.

On this first full moon of summer we gathered in the Enchanted Forest, in celebration and ceremony. Within minutes we created a soft sensual palace near the cathedral of trees.

The powerful story of Artemis and her mythological tribe inspired our tribe of enlightened women to engage in rhythmic ritual.  The beats of our drums, tambourines and shakers, sent out primal human vibrations to all the trees in the forest.  In return they released subtle wisdom energy absorbed by the sensitive Moon Mothers. The silent whispers of our ancestral Mothers was clearly heard, as our dance parade galvanized into a waking dream of beauty.

From a magnificent vantage point seen by few, we opened to the feminine energy of the full moon’s light casting through the trees. Deeply connected to Mother Earth, each woman became a clear channel of universal wisdom.  Linking together we transformed into a vessel of wisdom and fluidly moved into the unknown, to celebrate the mysteries of the universe.

Goddess Ixchel ~ Medicine Woman

The ancient Maya believed in many Gods, but only one Goddess, Ixchel;  Medicine woman, sage, and weaver.  She presides over child-birth, wounded warriors, and the ill.  She is depicted as a Crone, to symbolize wisdom. Her crown is a snake coiled on her head, symbolic of new life and awakened kundalini. There seems to be a little Hindu belief in this mythology, hence she is a weaver.  Ixchel, carries a large satchel over one shoulder and a walking stick in her other hand.  The large satchel symbolized strength and healing remedies, the walking stick, a symbol of her earth travels.

All women of our Moon Mothers tribe, possess a unique healing gift.  Some heal by way of traditional and herbal medicine. Some heal, via Reiki, humor, song, compassionate listening, and giving sage advice.

Ixchel, reminds us that Mother Earth provides us all with free medicine. Mother Earth gives us an abundant supply of the obvious, herbs, food, and water, to keep us healthy and heal our ailments.  There’s also, that not so obvious, health-giving gift she constantly provides. It’s her subtly restorative vibration.  Her rhythmic heartbeat, aligns us into flowing health. We need only to connect, to feel her therapeutic resonance.

As we Navigate todays modern society, it’s so easy to become disconnected from Mother Earth’s perfect healing pulsation.  As we walk through this world wearing shoes and spending a lot of time in buildings, we become disconnected from her health-giving frequency.

On this full moon we invoked the spirit of Ixchel.  We Moon Mothers created prayer flags, for planetary healing and wove them together in honor of the weaving, healing Goddess, Ixchel. In the mystical meadow surrounded by ancient Redwood trees we laid on our backs and connected to the heart beat of Mother Earth.  Through a guided  meditation, we moved into our imaginal mind to clear our chakras so that our kundalini serpent could rise to our crowns.

With new clarity, awakened kundalini and a deep connection to Mother Earth, each women spoke of her innate healing gifts.

Thank you Mary Baxter for providing turkey dinner,  Thank you Jennifer Gray for hosting us at your sacred home.  Thank you Erica Crawford for excellent photography.

Crones in the Mist

Donna Scheifler

“We were enshrouded in our own “Mists of Avalon” … as we gathered in ritual and tapped into our womanly ways of being and knowing. Rather than being drawn out of ourselves by the spectacular wide expanse of ocean, we were invited to go within and find the unique treasure buried deep within each of us. Now, with the support of this awesome women’s circle, we can go out and share who we are and what we have … and the world will be blessed.”  Donna Scheifler

THE TRIPLE GODDESS

As the Maiden, I saw through your eyes as a child

Spring rains, green forests, and animals wild!

I saw you run freely on the Earth with bare feet!

I watched as you danced in the winds, blowing free!

I was there as you grew, getting stronger each day!

I brought you rainbows, chasing grey skies away!

I was there in your laughter – I was there in your tears!

I was the acceptance you gained from your peers!

I saw your first love and I felt your first blush,

As passion first stirred in the night’s gentle hush!

I am there with you always in the fresh morning dew!

I bring you the crispness of beginnings anew.

As the Mother, I bore all the labor distress

Of birthing your child, and I felt the caress

Of your hand on the face of the new life so dear.

I heard its first cry, and I eased your fear!

I provided the milk which you fed from your breast

Till the baby grew strong, and with health it was blessed.

As she took her first step, I was there in your smile!

I was there while you nurtured your beautiful child!

On the first day of school, when the doors opened wide

I was there in your fear – I was there in your pride.

I am there with you always in the bright full of moon!

I bring you fertility – abundance in bloom.

As the Crone, I brought blessings of wisdom with age

[Wisdom not found by the turn of a page].

I was there as you taught the correct way to live:

To love and to trust – to take and to give!

I was there in the twinkle of your aged eye!

I was there in your thoughts of the years flying by!

I was there when you taught the Mysteries of old!

I was there in the fire warming you in the cold!

In the weariness of age, I was there with you, too…

I brought well-deserved rest and peace unto you!

I am there with you always in the darkness of night!

I complete your life cycle, guiding you toward the light.

Maiden, Mother and Crone – We are all One –

Yet We are all separate, as each role is done.

We do not leave you – We’re always there

As you walk through this life with your worries and cares;

As you dance in the spiral, We live inside –

Deep in your spirit – where nothing can hide!

No matter your path, no matter it’s length –

We give you courage and We give you strength.

We are there to support you every hour of day

And deep in the night, when dreams take you away.

Our gifts We give freely, for you are our Child…

Yes, We are the Lady: Wise, Pure, and Wild!

-Kalioppe-

Our circle danced in a heart beat rhythm as Nicole, Meta and Linda Grace read the poem.  Then our dance became a spiral in a prelude to the Crone coronation ceremony.

We gathered around the flaming water pond, to honor the Goddess of transformation Pele.  As I told the legend of one of the most misunderstood Goddesses, Pele, the women danced with metaphors between Pele and the Crone.

When it was time to walk the path of the Crone we all walked together, although the Crones path was three times longer.  The women who were about to take their thrones and be crowned Crone, walked bare foot through a birth canal hand bridge, then stepped over fire, and through water to reach their thrones.

The coronation ceremony was rich with wisdom, laughter and tears. After each Crone was crowned, she was given her Crone name and asked what she had to offer our circle.

One by one, the newly crowned Crone took center stage and delivered gifts, read poetry, spoke words of enlightenment, and told us of her profound feminine history.
