Sprit of Hecate

On this first full moon of summer we invoked the spirit of Hecate, (Greek Goddess of crossroads).  As we drummed chanted and walked the sacred labyrinth, personal questions became clear and keen insight prevailed. Below is a poem that encapsulates our communal experience.

Getting There by David Wagoner

You take a final step and, look, suddenly You’re there.

You’ve arrived At the one place all your drudgery was aimed for:

This common ground Where you stretch out, pressing your cheek to sandstone.

What did you want to be?

You’ll remember soon.

You feel like tinder Under a burning glass, A luminous point of change.

The sky is pulsing Against the cracked horizon, Holding it firm till the arrival of stars In time with your heartbeats.

Like wind etching rock, you’ve made a lasting impression On the self you were By having come all this way through all this welter Under your own power,

Though your traces on a map would make an unpromising Meandering lifeline.

What have you learned so far?

You’ll find out later, Telling it haltingly Like a dream, that lost traveler’s dream  Under the last hill  Where through the night you’ll take your time out of mind  To unburden yourself  Of elements along elementary paths  By the break of morning.

You’ve earned this worn-down, hard, incredible sight Called Here and Now.

Now, what you make of it means everything, Means starting over:

The life in your hands is neither here nor there  But getting there, So you’re standing again and breathing, beginning another Journey without regret.

Below are a few pictures from our gathering.

May you be refreshed by Mother Ocean and feel at ease in the shade of mighty trees.

Happy Summer,

Sincerely,

Pure Potentiality

On this potent Blood-Blue-Super-Full-Moon, we Moon Mothers celebrated the pure potentiality of this new year.  Through ancient ritual, remembering splendid moments from the past, creating and sharing, we magnetized ourselves to universal abundance.

Below are a couple of poems created on this night of practical magic.

Holding up flowers in devotion to the tree, to the Goddess, to all Life
This is my season of dreaming, of renewal, restoration
Singing in the temple, so familiar
Tress nature cathedral – sacred is sacred
How can I keep from singing?
I long to return to the holy places where I once served
Thank you for the beauty of nature, the beauty I look for and always see.
May I travel unencumbered.
May I sing your praises everyday.

Equal World

It is an Equal World.
I open to my best as I rest
In the grass of Heart’s Green Desire
I allow the goddess
Receive the gift
The hummingbird sings
My Voice has wings
Words are like nectar as I write
True calling is heard both day and night
Accept the Mother Mary
Vessel of Pure Potential
World spins
I surrender
Nurture Self
Wise owl calls

As you navigate this new year, may you create what ever you feel called to create and celebrate the simple moments.

“Dress in layers and bring a flashlight and a blanket…” We should always have these few things in a bag in our cars for any reason, but it is always the suggested list on the invitations to attend the monthly Full Moon Ceremony.

We weren’t able to take a chance at meeting at the Enchanted Forest last night because of the predicted storms, so we met instead at the magical studio of Tamara Trejo.

The front porch was lit festively with an inviting little white tree topped with a star and the building was adorned with strands of deep blue garland lights that ran the entire circumference of the roof line – someone has been hard at work! Beautiful!

I showed up a little late, and as I reached the group gathered in the back area, they were all dancing and shaking to a rock and roll song requested by one of the November birthday babies; this night had energy!

The ceremony took place the main room of the studio, and as we all got comfortably seated, Tammy led us in our circle speak. We were honoring Lakshmi – the Goddess of Abundant Prosperity. Lakshmi loves bright, and shiny things; she is the perfect Goddess for this season as the nights begin so early and go so long and can be so dark! So to help get the attention of this Goddess you are to adorn your homes, your windows and your bodies with flash and bling! Who doesn’t like that?!

Every ceremony is unique – last night we listened to our lovely Meta play a solo piece on her flute which brought the energy into a quiet calm, readying us to go deep within and to ponder ourselves and our lives.

We then gave our attention to Amy, our Dragon Crone, who led us in a call and response, calling in Lakshmi; the room was filled with our singing voices. We then turned inward for a brief meditation giving us the time to consider the night’s question, “When does the world witness your brilliance?”

This is when I realized how sweet the night truly was and how this thought provoking exercise serves: I realized during my meditation that, it’s the physical elements that we set out to catch her eye; Lakshmi will then come in closer to see one’s brilliance if you put it out for her to see! What really happens is that she turns the light back on you! The abundant prosperity resides within us all! Lakshmi is a vehicle for us to see what we already have inside. The Circle speak was so beautiful because we all got to share our own brilliance with each other, uninhibited, and supported and learned things about ourselves in the meantime.

Lisa Forward shared a beautiful song that was written by a dear friend who has passed from this world – we all sang and honored Sass and will sing her song again and next time perhaps with the accompaniment of Meta, the Flutist!

Just in time, Mother Moon peeked out from behind the clouds so our ululations blended with the light of the November full moon accompanied by Jupiter shining brilliantly just above. Brilliance was our theme — celebrating Lakshmi, Goddess of Abundant Prosperity. We shared our individual and unique brilliance — shedding our usual humility and putting on our cosmic BLING!

And then we went out and bought lottery tickets (literally or figuratively)! Bring on the gold and riches! (To anyone who wins — I dearly treasure our relationship and wish you good luck in winning tonight’s fortune. You know you have always been my favorite (although I’ve been careful not to show it) and I sincerely hope you win. Perhaps these tidings of good luck and fortune may swing the odds in your favor. I’ll be thinking of you tonite. If you win, please share the great news with me ASAP. Sending along a virtual hug with this message! Love, Chris

Many blessings and best wishes to our November birthday mothers. May this be the best year of your lives — the potential is here and within your reach. Shine your light … and DANCE!

Abundant blessings and love, Chris

Jupiter aligned with the moon

Thank you Barbara and Chris, you are both brilliant writers.

Wishing you all a festive Holiday Season and blissful Winter solstice.  We will meet again on December 28th.

Sincerely,

Tammy
