Sprit of Hecate

On this first full moon of summer we invoked the spirit of Hecate, (Greek Goddess of crossroads).  As we drummed chanted and walked the sacred labyrinth, personal questions became clear and keen insight prevailed. Below is a poem that encapsulates our communal experience.

Getting There by David Wagoner

You take a final step and, look, suddenly You’re there.

You’ve arrived At the one place all your drudgery was aimed for:

This common ground Where you stretch out, pressing your cheek to sandstone.

What did you want to be?

You’ll remember soon.

You feel like tinder Under a burning glass, A luminous point of change.

The sky is pulsing Against the cracked horizon, Holding it firm till the arrival of stars In time with your heartbeats.

Like wind etching rock, you’ve made a lasting impression On the self you were By having come all this way through all this welter Under your own power,

Though your traces on a map would make an unpromising Meandering lifeline.

What have you learned so far?

You’ll find out later, Telling it haltingly Like a dream, that lost traveler’s dream  Under the last hill  Where through the night you’ll take your time out of mind  To unburden yourself  Of elements along elementary paths  By the break of morning.

You’ve earned this worn-down, hard, incredible sight Called Here and Now.

Now, what you make of it means everything, Means starting over:

The life in your hands is neither here nor there  But getting there, So you’re standing again and breathing, beginning another Journey without regret.

Below are a few pictures from our gathering.

May you be refreshed by Mother Ocean and feel at ease in the shade of mighty trees.

Happy Summer,

Pure Potentiality

On this potent Blood-Blue-Super-Full-Moon, we Moon Mothers celebrated the pure potentiality of this new year.  Through ancient ritual, remembering splendid moments from the past, creating and sharing, we magnetized ourselves to universal abundance.

Below are a couple of poems created on this night of practical magic.

Holding up flowers in devotion to the tree, to the Goddess, to all Life
This is my season of dreaming, of renewal, restoration
Singing in the temple, so familiar
Tress nature cathedral – sacred is sacred
How can I keep from singing?
I long to return to the holy places where I once served
Thank you for the beauty of nature, the beauty I look for and always see.
May I travel unencumbered.
May I sing your praises everyday.

Equal World

It is an Equal World.
I open to my best as I rest
In the grass of Heart’s Green Desire
I allow the goddess
Receive the gift
The hummingbird sings
My Voice has wings
Words are like nectar as I write
True calling is heard both day and night
Accept the Mother Mary
Vessel of Pure Potential
World spins
I surrender
Nurture Self
Wise owl calls

As you navigate this new year, may you create what ever you feel called to create and celebrate the simple moments.

American Goddess & Bali Retreat

AmericanGoddess_webI created this book to honor the Divine Feminine Goddess that resides in all women. The inherent powerful beauty that resides in women sometimes needs a witness to bring it to light. When a woman is truly present in the moment, connected to the natural environment and feeling strong, she effortlessly embodies the Goddess. May the images in this book be a tether to reconnect you to your divine essence and inspire you to create images of your divine Goddess self.

Born in the great melting pot, we are the American Goddess. We are a mixed breed, a tribe of all cultures. Our DNA holds the memory of many matriarchal societies that functioned from the heart.

Our Grandmothers hail from all cultures. Some Native American; others immigrated from Africa, Europe, China, India and all corners of the world. They have handed down their matriarchal culture, their knowledge of herbal medicine, song, dance, and ritual. They were deeply connected to Mother Earth, the moon, the seasons, and animals. They held reverent the care of infants, children and the elderly.

I honor and thank all my ancestral mothers who had their inherent Goddess essence silenced in their time. Their Goddess birthright miraculously lived on through the generations to this point in time. Today the women of America can, without fear stand in their divine light and embody the Great Goddesses of our ancestors.

The American Goddess embodies all cultural beliefs of the divine feminine.

Bagus Jati 1

Join us on a journey to Bali where we will walk in our beauty nature and reflect our light into the world. We will weave our sacred circle at Bagus Jati, where we will stay in luxurious villas on hillside gardens among lush tropical forests in the mountains outside of Ubud. In addition to circle time and yoga, we will journey to a traditional Balinese village, trek in the jungle where we will experience the magnificent variety of flora and fauna and be a part of a purification ritual and blessing ceremony at a nearby temple and waterfall. For more information, www.islawomensretreat.com or email info@islawomensretreat.com .

We will gather on the full moon, Tuesday,  October 27th 6pm; to honor three women in a Crone ceremony.  Details coming soon.

Portrait of Self

You’re invited  Portrait of Self Collage Circle

September 23, 2012  11am – 4pm

731 Main St  Coastside Photography, Half Moon Bay, CA

This day of art, meditation, writing, labyrinth walking, nourishing food and companionship will offer you the opportunity to assess your journey, and bring forth a more integrated you, energized and able to fill the world with your brilliance.

2012 has held a lot of physical and emotional turbulence for many people. This is my favorite way to quickly recharge my energy and clear out the mental cobwebs. And it’s a perfect way to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox by bringing ourselves into balance. As the Mock Turtle and Alice say, “Will you, won’t you, will you join the dance?”
