Spring Awaking

At dusk we donned fragrant flowers in our hair.  With fire and breath we ignited dried sage to cleanse our aura in preparation of casting our circle.ostara01

On this first full moon of Spring and second blue moon of this most auspicious year, we resurrected the spirit of Ostara, the Celtic Goddess of Spring.

Like a Mother gently calls her children to rise and shine for the beginning of a new day; Ostara silently calls to all the plants and animals to awaken to the season of re-birth.  Her summons triggers the rooting down and sprouting up of the sleeping seeds, blanketed in earth.

Ostara is the hostess of the Spring jamboree.  She decorates our world with rainbows, scented flowers and waterfalls.  Birds sing her invitation to enjoy her festive bounty.  She serves nourishing carrots, kale, radishes, asparagus, spinach and peas to strengthen our body. She provides more hours of daylight to nourish our soul.  Ostara inspires all living creatures to frolic in jubilee and creativity.

We Moon Mothers, paid homage to Ostara and our personal creative dreams by rhythmically dancing the Fertile Seed ritual.  We heeded her call of new creation by giving birth to poetry and art.

Below is a poem by Helen Mary Schaeffer-Stanford, written just after our Fertile Seed dance.

Ostara Dance

Goddesses gathered.
Powerful, complete.
Knowing and wise.
Sisters of the Moon.

Goddesses gathered.
Ancestors join us.
We chant, Hail Mother Earth.
We dance.
We dance the dance that awakens our spirits to Ostara.

Goddesses gathered.
Warriors blessed.
Wild abandon.

Thank you ladies for showing up so brightly on the Blue moon.  Your art & poetry is so magnificently beautiful. You may want to read your writings at the Open Mic Poetry reading,  Arise Gallery,  678 Portola Dr. San Francisco, Sunday, April 29th, 1pm “til 2:30pm.

May you flourish this season. See you next full moon.

Rippling Wisdom Wand

Nice to know that our Divine feminine, creative work is far-reaching and empowering women in the heartland.

below is an email that I received last week.  Also my response, giving a brief explanation of wisdom wand creations.

Hello Tamara
My name is Kathy and I have recently discovered your wordpress blog and been following. I have come to feel moved to ceremony and ritual and have very much enjoyed your posts and would love to bring something like this to my area (southeast Iowa).
I do have a circle of Sisters that I gather with monthly but they don’t seem to have the call to work with the moon phases for our meet dates as I do, but they do enjoy learning more spiritual and esoteric topics.
I would love to offer the chance to create the wisdom wands such as what you will be creating on the March 1 full moon but I know nothing about them and when I Google them I don’t get what I believe would be anything close to what you and your circle would have in mind for them so I am asking if you would be open to sharing what you can with me about them, the who, what, why etc and then I can get busy manifesting this for my circle.
I do appreciate anything you share with me on this!! Thank you so much!!
Much love,
Kathy

Hello Kathy,

Happy to hear that our Divine feminine circle is rippling to the heartland.

We coined the term “wisdom wand” for last summer’s Solstice gathering.

The premise is to infuse the wand with “I am” statements. Example I am an artist, I am a good mother, I am a gardener, I am an activist and so on and on.
Also I am grateful statements. Example, I am grateful for my husband, I am grateful for my home, I am grateful for my circle of women. Etc.

It’s a creative meditation that will end with the creation of a powerful wand infused with personal “I am” power and gratitude.

I use twigs as a base. We wrap the twigs with strips of fabric, yarn, strands of beads and feathers. Each wrap we say our I am statement and an I am grateful statement.

The ladies take their wisdom wands home and put them on their home altar and use them when divine wisdom light is needed.

Hope this description helps you lead this powerful process.

Here’s a link to your last wisdom wand making circle.

Pure Potentiality

On this potent Blood-Blue-Super-Full-Moon, we Moon Mothers celebrated the pure potentiality of this new year.  Through ancient ritual, remembering splendid moments from the past, creating and sharing, we magnetized ourselves to universal abundance.

Below are a couple of poems created on this night of practical magic.

Holding up flowers in devotion to the tree, to the Goddess, to all Life
This is my season of dreaming, of renewal, restoration
Singing in the temple, so familiar
Tress nature cathedral – sacred is sacred
How can I keep from singing?
I long to return to the holy places where I once served
Thank you for the beauty of nature, the beauty I look for and always see.
May I travel unencumbered.
May I sing your praises everyday.

Equal World

It is an Equal World.
I open to my best as I rest
In the grass of Heart’s Green Desire
I allow the goddess
Receive the gift
The hummingbird sings
My Voice has wings
Words are like nectar as I write
True calling is heard both day and night
Accept the Mother Mary
Vessel of Pure Potential
World spins
I surrender
Nurture Self
Wise owl calls

In January and March of 1999, we had a situation which only takes place about four times a century: two Blue Moons occurring in the same year. The last time this happened was in January and April of 1961 and it is happening again this year. 2018 is going to be a very auspicious year.

Spirit~Quest

Soul, finds bliss in the security and comfort of home, and peace in the quiet of solitude and rest.  Spirit, seeks adventure, new experiences, creativity, and human connection. On this day we soothed our soul in the comfort and beauty of Shelldance’s greenhouse. We called upon our Spirit to show her desires.  By combing through hundreds of images and keeping the ones that sparked our spirit, we created our Spirit~Quest collage. Some of the images I placed on my collage held obvious meaning and some felt powerful, but were vague in meaning.  I trust the meanings will become clear as I follow my path of seeking, creating and enjoying beauty.

Part of deliberate manifesting is to have a witness to your dreams and desires. Collectively we held the energy, as each woman shared her Spirit~Quest.  Then we sent the energy out into the universe through our hands by way of applause.

“In out of the way places of the heart

Where your thoughts never think to wander

This beginning has been quietly forming

Waiting until you were ready to emerge.”

                                                                                                  ~John O’Donohue

May you experience the adventure your spirit seeks and manifest a beautiful new year.

Sincerely,

Light of Lakshmi

A few weeks ago I felt the world upon my shoulders.  With a burdened heart and sadness on my face, I walked down a public corridor.  My footsteps were heavy and my posture coiled as I plodded along.  From an adjacent hall bounced a vibrant maiden.  Light on her feet, her gait was airy and sure.  Her aura twinkled like a sparkler on the 4th of July.   Her smile was so bright it lit the hallway. She passed me on her merry way.  Her light was contagious.

I felt my spine straighten, and my face muscles relax into a smile.  Without a word or a glance her vibrant light, fueled my tiny embers of light, which ignited into remembrance of my power to switch on my own light.  Even in the darkness of heavy situations, I can choose light and grace over darkness and hostility.

“A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.”  Rumi

On this November full moon, we Moon Mothers dedicated our ceremony to Lakshmi, Goddess of abundant light and prosperity.  We shared our light as we each spoke of our own brilliant gifts.  We fed our sister’s soul-flame by acknowledging her brilliance and divine strengths.  On a dark bluff top, lit by a small center flame, our ritual became a visceral festival of lights.  Sincerely spoken words of acknowledgement and recognition polished the soul-light of the women so brightly, it could have been seen by google maps.

Lakshmi’s blessing of abundance was delivered, in both divine wealth and material richness.  Thank you, Michelle, for opening your sacred beach home for our gathering.  Thank you, Mary Baxter, for the delicious dinner.  Thank you, Eva Derksen for the delicate handcrafted Goddesses.  Thank you beautiful Moon Mothers, for showing up so brightly and sharing your light.

Lakshmi

May your light be kindled through darkness.

May you be the power source to arouse the luminescence in others.

Namaste,

Hecate

Normally I proceed down my chosen path with ease and confidence. I schedule my predictable days with life fulfilling activities and creative endeavors. Without fear or worry I know what’s ahead for me. Then, all of a sudden, my clear, gently curving path becomes a crossroad. Time to stop and decide if I will take a new route. I look down the path on my right and on my left, both are dark and hold no signs of what to come. I feel excited for the possibilities of what a new path could hold. My excitement quickly turns to fear of the unknown. If I stay on the path I am currently walking on, at least I have a pretty good idea of what’s to come, and I like knowing. Then in front of me is a sign that reads. Dead end! You can no longer proceed down your normal path. Oh no! I am forced to choose a new path. I am afraid of choosing the wrong path, I don’t like uncertainty. What if I choose the wrong path? Oh my Goddess, I need some help on this one.

Then, right in front of me, the dark Goddess of crossroads, Hecate, appears. She is holding two torches and a crescent moon sickle. As she spreads her arms, her torches light my crossroad. Calmness washes over me. I look to my right and feel grace. I look to my left and feel serenity. No longer afraid, I take a step on to the right path. Swish, down comes her crescent moon sickle, cutting the ties to the path I was on. Well, no turning back now. Fearlessly I begin to walk down a new path. I turn to thank her, but like magic, she’s gone.

On this first full moon of Autumn, we Moon Mothers, invoked the spirit of Hecate. We chanted her song, drummed a steady beat, and walked the sacred labyrinth. Silently she arrived and lightly illuminated our paths.

Below is a little movie and slide show from our gathering.
